statement
Laura Rose is a multi-media artist living and working mostly in California. She teaches at both Gualala Arts and Mendocino Arts Center. She also has an open studio year around. She is internationally collected.
Painting is her lifeblood, she says about her work "I love to paint because I disappear as I become the mist , the blush of a rose, or the colours intermingling."
"With figure drawing, I like to let the immediate inspiration move me, allowing a beautiful curve, a classic pose, a spontaneous movement—to guide the image."
"There is endless challenge with life drawing, every figure is different, every turn of the hand, always showing one where they need to improve, and in what way they can see something new."
